The sun was shining, the chickens clucking, and everywhere the sound of children playing...is there any better way to start your day? The ladies were looking mighty fine this morning, healthy and happy and scratching in the sun. We brought some carrot peelings and apple cores, which they ate immediately, along with some feed and water. Lots of interest from kids and teachers alike this morning. Killian has been less than interested in the idea of taking care of chickens and their poop, but as soon as she let them out of the roost she had a change of heart. And when I handed her one to hold, it was love. I've got a little helper now, so "Chicken Tuesday" will be a special day each week in our household. She's a proud mother hen in that coop, answering questions from the kids that gather round.This is a great program, and thanks again to all that made it happen.
